Toto Wolff hails Doriane Pin after 'crushing' F1 Academy to win 2025 title (2026)

In a stunning display of talent and determination, Toto Wolff, the principal and CEO of the Mercedes Formula 1 team, has enthusiastically praised Doriane Pin, the newly crowned champion of the 2025 F1 Academy. The 21-year-old French driver has truly dominated the all-female racing series, leaving her competitors in the dust.

Pin joined the Mercedes Junior Team in 2024, stepping into her rookie year in the F1 Academy with great ambition. After an impressive debut season where she secured second place, she returned to the track in 2025 with her eyes firmly set on capturing the championship title.

Over the course of seven competitive rounds, Pin amassed an impressive total of 172 points, enough to secure her position as the champion ahead of Maya Weug, who finished in the runner-up spot. "Dori has been a fantastic asset to our team," Wolff remarked in a recent Mercedes debrief video. "Her journey is unique; she transitioned from karting to touring cars and GT competitions, showcasing her versatility with noteworthy performances in prototypes.

Then she stepped into the F1 Academy and really excelled, winning the championship. Doriane is a fierce competitor with a remarkable driving ability, and her personality seamlessly integrates with the values of Mercedes. It’s genuinely rewarding to witness her growth and effort within our team."

While the specifics of Pin's next career move remain uncertain, she has expressed a strong desire to continue her relationship with Mercedes. "We’re at a point where we can determine our future direction. Since we wrapped up the season in mid-November, things have been a bit rushed, but we will certainly arrive at some decisions in the upcoming weeks. My hope is to remain with Mercedes for a long and successful partnership together," Pin shared in an interview with Goodwood.

She continued, "I enjoy both single-seaters and sports cars, as they both represent high-level competition with the best drivers in the world. Competing in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) was a thrilling experience, filled with fierce competition and beautiful racing moments, but my time in single-seaters over the last two years has also been incredibly rewarding."

What are your thoughts on Doriane Pin’s remarkable rise in motorsport? Do you think she has what it takes to make a significant impact in Formula 1? Let us know in the comments!
