A tragic story unfolds as Sarah Lee Naidoo, a 29-year-old woman from Durban, is denied bail and will remain in Pollsmoor Prison, accused of murdering her former partner, Julian “Julz” Ramiah, aged 47. This heartbreaking case has captured the public's attention, and the details paint a complex picture of a relationship turned deadly. The case is set to continue with a bail hearing later this month.
The incident, which occurred at Ramiah's beachfront apartment in Blouberg, allegedly took place in the early hours of September 1st. The Cape Town Magistrate’s Court heard the matter on November 26th, but the case was postponed once again.
Julian’s sister, Layyen Zarina Ramiah, has shared insights into the troubled relationship. She revealed that Naidoo and her brother shared a minor child. Layyen told The Post, a sister newspaper of the Daily Voice, that Naidoo became violent and manipulative after Julian ended their relationship in 2023. Julian subsequently moved to Cape Town in 2024, but Layyen discovered that Naidoo had also relocated there in August.
Layyen expressed her frustration with the ongoing delays, stating the emotional toll the drawn-out process has taken. She emphasized her hope for a thorough and fair legal process, with her primary focus being justice for Julian.
But here's where it gets controversial... A relative was served with a protection order and a cease-and-desist letter concerning online posts that called for justice for Ramiah. This was due to videos posted online that sought justice for Julian. Layyen hopes for a complete and fair trial where all facts are considered, and justice is served for Julian. She is focused on ensuring accurate information about the case is shared and that her brother's story is told responsibly.
The bail hearing is scheduled to resume on December 22nd.
