At just 24 years old, Lucy secured her spot by finishing among the top three in Jersey during the 2025 CrossFit Open. This impressive feat earned her a ticket to compete in Vilnius from December 5th to 7th. Imagine the excitement!
The event kicks off with an international opening ceremony, where Lucy will proudly represent Jersey, carrying the island's flag. But here's where the real challenge begins: athletes will face a grueling series of six tests designed to push their fitness to the absolute limit.
Lucy herself is thrilled, stating, "It’s such an incredible opportunity to represent Jersey at a World Championships." She added, "I take part in the CrossFit Open every year and never expected to place second in Jersey, let alone qualify for the IF3 Worlds. Since then I’ve been fully focused on preparing, and I’m truly honoured to compete at this level." She also expressed her gratitude to Dominion for their generous sponsorship, which has been crucial to her journey.
But what exactly does it take to compete at this level? The IF3 Worlds demands a diverse skillset. The endurance test typically involves sustained aerobic activities like long runs or rowing. The strength element focuses on lifting heavy weights with fewer repetitions. Then there's the bodyweight test, which assesses capacity through high-volume or speed-based exercises. And don't forget the skill-based movement test, often involving gymnastics, balance, and precision.
And this is the part most people miss... Arguably the most unpredictable element is the mixed-modal test, which combines endurance, lifting, and technical skills in rapid succession. The final stage is all about power, rewarding explosive output during short, intense bursts. It's a comprehensive test of fitness and consistency.
