Facing 'Catastrophic' Fire Conditions: Emergency Measures in Place

Evacuations and Closures:
Several popular holiday destinations along the Great Ocean Road are being evacuated. This includes caravan parks and campgrounds in Kennett River and Wye River, among others. Great Ocean Road Parks announced these closures on social media. Additionally, all national parks and foreshores in the area, such as the Great Otway National Park and the iconic Twelve Apostles, are closed to ensure public safety.

- Campgrounds: Skenes Creek Foreshore Caravan Park, Kennett River Family Holiday Park, and Wye River Beachfront Campground are all closed.

Regional Impact:
Parks and forests in the Wimmera, North Central, Northern Country, and South West districts will also be closed on Friday due to the forecasted 'Catastrophic' Fire Danger. Travel Disruptions:
In response to the extreme fire danger, V/Line has taken the significant step of canceling train services on numerous regional lines. This includes Warrnambool, Albury, Ararat, Bendigo, Echuca, Maryborough, Seymour, Shepparton, and Swan Hill lines. No replacement coach services will be available on these lines.
Limited Services:
The Geelong and Ballarat lines are the only two regional lines that will remain open, but they will operate on an extreme heat timetable. This means slower speeds, potential service changes, and longer journey times. Some services may be replaced with coaches. Passengers are advised to plan ahead, as delays and cancellations are possible if temperatures exceed 36 degrees Celsius. On Friday, Geelong is expected to reach 40 degrees, while Melbourne could hit 41 degrees.
Coach Service Disruptions:
Coach services that pass through the North Central, North Country, and South West fire districts will not operate for the entire journey, even if parts of the route are outside the affected areas. Other scheduled coach services may also be canceled or terminated early. All coach services for the Wimmera region that are scheduled to arrive and depart from Ararat and Ballarat stations, along with the Adelaide to Bendigo coach services, are also canceled. These decisions are based on the Australian Fire Danger Rating System's advice for catastrophic fire danger ratings. If catastrophic fire danger ratings are declared in other regions, services passing through those areas will also be canceled.
