The Browns are considering a controversial candidate for their head coach position: Aden Durde, the Seahawks' defensive coordinator. This move has sparked debate among fans and analysts alike.
Durde, 46, has an impressive resume. He's been with the Seahawks for two seasons, leading a defense that ranked highly in multiple categories during the 2025 regular season. The Seahawks allowed the fewest points per game (17.2), the sixth-fewest total yards per game (285.6), the 10th-fewest passing yards per game (193.9), and the third-fewest rushing yards per game (91.0).
Prior to Seattle, Durde spent three seasons with the Cowboys as their defensive line coach, achieving notable success. In his first season, his unit produced 23 sacks and pressured opposing quarterbacks on 237-of-684 dropbacks, the third-most in the league in 2021. The following year, they contributed 44 of the defense's 54 sacks.
Durde's coaching career began with the Atlanta Falcons, where he worked under Dan Quinn for four seasons. He started as a coaching intern in 2016, then moved to a defensive assistant role in 2018-19, and finally became the outside linebackers coach in 2020.
Before his NFL career, Durde played linebacker in NFL Europe for six years with the Scottish Claymores and Hamburg Sea Devils. He was part of Hamburg's 2007 NFL Europa World Bowl XV Championship team, the final championship in the league's history. He also spent time on the practice squads of the Carolina Panthers and Kansas City Chiefs.
Despite his impressive credentials, some question his suitability for the Browns' head coach role. The decision to interview Durde has raised eyebrows, and the outcome will be closely watched by the football world.
